There are a lot of things that we are proud of here at Barrett Station Veterinary Clinic, but we are by far the most proud of our amazing team of Veterinarians, Technicians, and Reception staff.  From the moment you walk through our front door until your visit is complete, you will be in the hands of the best in the business.  Our patient-first approach and office culture are second-to-none.  Our clinic is big enough to serve you, yet small enough to know you.

I’m an Oakville native and both my bachelor’s in Animal Science and veterinary degree from the University of Missouri-Columbia. The Pletz household is home to two boys, one cat, three dogs, and a mix of fish. I became partner at BSVC in 2014 and in 2019 am glad to continue our service to clients as the new owner.

Dr. John Pletz, D.V.M.

I’m from Springfield IL, I love the outdoors and our four cats – and we’re bringing home a poodle puppy soon! My favorite things about working at Barrett Station are we have the best team who can make even a stressful day fun, and with veterinary medicine there are always new challenges.

Dr. Amy Maddin, D.V.M.

I studied and practiced veterinary medicine in Portland, Seattle, and L.A. before moving to STL in 2014. I enjoy singing with the Women’s Hope Choral and time with my three children, husband, and two cats – one senior and one energetic juvenile. I respect the culture of quality medicine at BSVC, and my coworkers, patients, and their owners have become a second family.

Dr. Ann Wieland, D.V.M.

I grew up riding horses in Queeny Park before it was a park. My father recognized my love for animals, people, and science and encouraged into Veterinary Medicine. Since I first opened BSVC in 1990, I’ve had the best clients, patients, and staff, and have been proud to mentor hundreds of young people.

Dr. Caroline Gilje, D.V.M.

I was born and raised on a pig farm in Warrenton, MO with lots of pets, and decided to become a vet when I was seven! My family and I have normal pets today, along with chickens and cattle. My favorite things about being a veterinarian are helping animals live their healthiest lives, and the relationships with pets and their families through the years.

Dr. Lynn Meyer, D.V.M.

I am from right here in Ballwin, and attended Lafayette H.S. We currently have one cat named Drake, and when not at work you can find me outdoors or catching a live concert. I love that Barrett Station is super busy with lots of interesting cases, but since we are not corporate, it's a very personal workplace to be a part of.

Dr. Victoria Knight, D.V.M.

Practice Manager

I have two rescues, a Doberman Pinscher and a Golden Retriever, and I love spending time with them and our two horses and watching my daughter compete. In my 24 years in veterinary medicine I’ve been a licensed technician in general and specialty practice, and a practice manager. Here at BSVC, our team takes pride in veterinary medicine every day!

Licensed Technicians

I have worked in shelter, emergency, and regular practice since 2010. When not at work, my husband and I enjoy our two kids, two cats, and two dogs. I am happy to call BSVC home. Surgeries and critical cases are most interesting to me and keep me on my toes!

Emily, R.V.T.

I've been a veterinary technician at Barrett Station ever since graduating in 2017, and I love how my coworkers make coming into work fun. And the most rewarding part of my job is helping animals to recover from anesthesia – making them comfortable and happy.

Mary, R.V.T.

I love in Oakville with my parents and four siblings, two miniature Australian Shepherds, and a German Shepherd. I also have six horses and finished in the top 20 in world at youth barrel racing. My favorite Barrett Station memory was staying late to help surgery on a kitten who had eaten a Nerf gun dart – full recovery!

Rachel, R.V.T.

I was born and raised in St. Louis, and became a RVT in 2012 shortly after being hired at BSVC. I have a black lab named Ty, and enjoy traveling and going to concerts. My favorite thing about working here is the relationships with my coworkers, the clients, and our patients.

Theresa, R.V.T.

I live in Oakville with my two golden retrievers, Chief and Lulu, and love to spend time with them and my baby boy, Harrison. My favorite aspect of Barrett Station is assisting on surgeries so I can help our clients recover from an injury or an illness.

I live in Festus with my two lovely doggies, Sophia and Brownie. I love the lights and fun things to do during Christmas, and one quote I'll always remember, “We can judge the heart of a man by his treatment of animals.”

Born and raised in Ballwin, MO, and grew up with pets. I now have two dogs of my own, a hound mix and a black lab that I take waterfowl hunting and on other outdoor activities. My favorite thing about BSVC is the staff and the quality of care provided to all the patients.

I was born in Bosnia and raised in St. Louis and graduated from VTI in 2016. I have a daughter named Anna and a black lab named Nova and my husband and I love spending time with them outdoors. My favorite thing about working at Barrett Station is the awesome team!

I’ve been a veterinary technician for almost 18 years. I love cooking/baking, my husband, our daughter and twin boys, and trying to tackle Pinterest projects. My favorite part about Barrett Station is our truly tight-knit family environment and our pride in what we do.

My husband and I live on a small acreage in the country with our horses, dogs, cats, chickens, and turtles to love and care for. At BSVC I run bloodwork, maintain samples, and help where needed. I love working here because the staff is caring, compassionate, and truly wants only the best for our patients.

I’ve been a vet tech for 8 years, and am owned by two kitties, one fish, and a German Shepherd part time. When not at work I’m at the lake, doing something outside, or bowling. I love both what I do and the awesome friendships and relationships with staff, our clients, and their 4-legged kids!

I have a beautiful rescue cocker spaniel named Koda. My favorite holiday is Halloween because I love the spooky and being scared. I was just hired in April of 2019 and so far I like getting familiar with my Barrett Station coworkers and all the great clients.

I’m a die-hard Cardinals and Blues fan. My husband and I were recently married and one of our three dogs, Chance, was the ring bearer. I quit human nursing to do this and wouldn’t trade it – I think if we all were the people our pets think we are, this world would be a better place!

Customer Service Team

I am a St. Louis native that has been in the veterinary field for twelve years. I have had a life-long love for animals and currently have two rescue dogs approaching nine. They are litter mates, found under a dumpster in Kansas City, MO. I also have a fascination with ancient civilizations, archeology, and anthropology.

I'm fortunate to be married to a man who rarely says no, so we have a basset, a coon hound mix, a calico, a bearded dragon, and usually a foster or two. I enjoy my three children, four grandchildren, sewing, rebuilding things, and when a frightened pet wags its tail after I talk to them.

My true love and I have two adult daughters, three dogs, and enjoy travel, gardening, and cooking. After 30+ years in the business world I “retired” to do something I love and found a place at Barrett Station: there’s truly a great group of compassionate, professional people.

I enjoy painting, crafting, hiking, and spending time with my cattle dog mix Duke at a family farm in Hermann. I respect the dedication of soccer player Mia Hamm, and my brother who became a police officer. And my favorite thing about BSCV is creating relationships with clients.

I moved to STL 14 years ago to live near our only child and two boys, and we have dinner together every Sunday. I love to read, and my newest hobby is Ancestry research. At BSVC my favorite thing is the pets, and the dedication I see in pet owners and veterinarians all doing their very best for the animals.

My wonderful husband and I have 8 adult children, seven grandchildren, two dogs, a German Shepherd and a Dachshund/Yorkie mix. I love horses and most all animals, and it’s great at Barrett Station because we get to help people and animals and every day is different – that keeps things interesting!
